Mini Vickimouse looked at us the first day we met her and said “Help me, please!”………
Vickimouse ran 87 races in 1997 - 1998 at Daytona Beach and then the Naples/Fort Myers track, placing first 14 times and breaking her hock on August 22, 1998, which ended her racing career. Vickimouse was taken from the track by Helen Banks, and then in February 1999 came to Renewed Life for Greyhounds, Michigan with 2 of her siblings – Sly Fly By Bri and Kiss Army Captain. She lived with that untreated broken hock for 6 months..........
And so Mini captured our hearts, with her perseverance and playfulness…...though she lived in pain every day, she would patrol the yard as the ultimate huntress – ears erect, eyes wide open, and standing tall, she would play-bow and twirl in the living room in tight little circles, she would lay in the sun for hours to make the ticking in her white coat darker to go with her brown brindling, she had the sweetest rooooo when she joined the “hegg hound choir”, and she loved to snuggle in bed under the covers to keep warm!
Mini was our “Mini Minolta”, our “Mini Minnesota”, our “Mini Vickimouse”, our “Mouse”, our “Warrior Princess” (along with Flounder, the other “Warrior Princess”, as they were both greyt racers!). Mini just loved to be outside – in any weather, she was first out, last in if we allowed it. Then once again she asked, “Help me, please!” So on a sunny day with a bright blue sky, outside in her yard, wrapped in her Minnie Mouse quilt, Mini jumped into our hearts and then left to run with the angels!
