Marvel

In Loving Memory of Iowa Movin’ On Marvel
(a.k.a. “Marvelous” or “Snooter”)
12/16/98 – 7/11/08

Our life with Marvel begins in 2000 (Marvel was only 1 ½ years old). Once we were approved to adopt a greyhound, we decided to become volunteer walkers so we were able to see the personalities of the different dogs that were available. I was immediately drawn to Marvel. Not having lived a long life on the track, she was Miss Personality. We were cautioned that she might not be the best for a first greyhound, since she had some food aggression issues to work on. I am so thankful that we did choose her. She was such a loveable companion. She was such a sweetheart… always snuggling up close to anyone that visited.

As for a family dog, you couldn’t ask for better. We had her for two years before we had children. We weren’t sure how she’d do with having kids stealing her attention, but she was perfectly content to step aside. She reminded me of Nana from “Peter Pan”… watching over the kids from the get-go. As you see above, it was hard to get a picture of the kids without her in it. She used to lie by their cribs at night and let us know if they’d fuss at all. Once they moved into toddler beds, we actually had to keep their doors shut at night, because one morning I went to check on the kids and my little girl was sleeping on the floor and Marvel was on her bed… evidently she snuggled a little too close.

The loss of Marvel has been much harder than I ever thought it would be. She was such a good pal – always there when we needed her. She acted like a puppy, playful and fun-loving right up to the point where her body couldn’t take it anymore and the cancer stole her from our family.

We will miss you always Marvel! Thanks for sharing your life with us!
